Things have been so busy lately that I’ve not been able to keep up with blogging. Art Gallery of Viera’s move and getting settled in, followed by my search, as Central Brevard Art Assoc.’s scholarship chair, for a recipient for the 2012 Youth Scholarship Award has thrown me way behind. But here is a pic of our new gallery location. It is so nice now to have all of our artists able to present their work in their own individual space. Tomorrow, I’ll be removing my work from the Cocoa Library, and I’ll be bringing new work to the gallery next week. My recent 1st Place Award at Titusville Art League’s show has me totally excited to get busy creating some new work and I just found out that Paula Steere will be starting her Life Drawing classes at the Satellite Beach Rec. Center this coming Tuesday.

My latest series of paintings is on display now at Art Gallery of Viera, located at The Avenue, Viera.
This is such a busy time of year for artists in Florida after the summer doldrums. For me, Central Brevard Art Association’s annual Heritage Isle show is coming up on November 12th & 13th. I have nothing new available for that yet. My watercolor classes at the Cocoa Beach Library start October 13th. I have nothing prepared for that yet. I’ll be in a show at Art Gallery of Viera in November. I’m actually working on a few pieces for that one! And that just starts the show season for me. I’ve spent a lot of time in the studio lately, but I don’t seem to be making any headway. I know I’ve said I work well under pressure, but good grief, if I don’t show some progress soon, well… that’s just not an option. I could probably benefit from some time management training. But who has time for that!?! Any artists with any secrets to success out there? I sure could use a few pointers.
My beautiful “Beach Baby” painting sold at Art Gallery of Viera today and will be living at the ocean where he belongs.
Amidst preparing for art shows, dealing with gallery business, working on a one day artist in residence demonstration and working with central Brevard High School Art Teachers to find this year’s scholarship recipient for Central Brevard Art Association, I am trying to prepare for May when I’ll be the featured artist at Art Gallery of Viera. I’m planning an exhibit of my new series of acrylic abstracts and I find the more I paint, the further behind I seem to get. I’ve sold some and others are tied up at an exhibit at Pizza Gallery & Grill. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very pleased that they are being so well received. I am enjoying them as well. It seems every time I work on them I discover a new technique or a new tool to use to create an even more unexpected effect. Here is a new one that is quite different. Different color palette, different textures.
Changing gears and launching into a new style of artwork and medium can be a little scary. I find myself thinking, well, I like it, will anyone else?
I think this weekend has confirmed that yes, at least a couple of people do.
My painting, New Day Dawning, sold Saturday morning at Central Brevard Art Association’s first show at the Cocoa Beach Country Club. A lovely young couple told me it reminded them of a trip they had taken to Times Square on a rainy day, and when I handed them their new painting, he turned to her and said “Happy Valentine’s Day”. My heart melted. What could possibly be better than that?
I will be at the Cape Canaveral Library 10 am – 4 pm Friday, January 28th & Saturday, January 29th for the Central Brevard Art Association’s 9th annual Cape Canaveral Library Art Show. I will have many of my new acrylic abstracts as well as a collection of my mixed media collages on display.
The Cape Canaveral Library is located at 201 Polk Avenue, just two blocks off A1A.
The show is free and open to the public. Stop by and let’s talk art!

The show runs from 10 am – 5 pm on Saturday, November 13 th and 10 am – 4 pm on Sunday, November 14 th at the Heritage Isle Clubhouse. I am featuring my newest painting, “Joy to the World”, available as prints or greeting cards. I will also be holding a raffle to benefit the Youth Scholarship Program I chair for CBAA. Two artists have donated original pieces that will awarded this weekend.
