Fire on the Water

Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better…
“Fire on the Water” took 3rd Place at Central Brevard Art Association’s
inaugural show at the Cocoa Beach Country Club.
Later, I went down to the Henegar Center for the Opening reception and award ceremony for Strawbridge Art League’s Mini-Vision show and found one of my paintings had won a merit award.  When I talk to people at the shows, I’m amazed at the amount of positive comments I’m getting.  I’ve even had a few folks say they don’t usually like abstract work, but they really like my new pieces.

Changing gears and launching into a new style of artwork and medium can be a little scary.  I find myself thinking, well, I like it, will anyone else?

New Day Dawning

I think this weekend has confirmed that yes, at least a couple of people do.

My painting, New Day Dawning, sold Saturday morning at Central Brevard Art Association’s first show at the Cocoa Beach Country Club.  A lovely young couple told me it reminded them of a trip  they had taken to Times Square on a rainy day, and when I handed them their new painting, he turned to her and said “Happy Valentine’s Day”.  My heart melted.  What could possibly be better than that?

New Haven Avenue in the heart of downtown,  Melbourne, Florida.  Exhibit dates are February 12th – March 9th, 2011.
The awards presentation and reception will be held on February 12th from 2-4 pm.  All are welcome. See you there!
